Puppies At Last!

Breaker and Dancer's puppies were born Saturday night/Sunday morning. Once the first puppy was born (it seemed to take forever and I was getting worried), things went more smoothly. The first puppy was born about 10:30 PM and the last at 1:15 AM. The litter of two boys and two girls is pictured above. The photo was taken this AM, so they are "not quite" two days old. So far, all is well with both Dancer and the babies.

As you can see, we have one female that -- for us -- is a very unusual color! Most of our puppies are born brown and then lighten up to some shade of gold or cream as they reach adulthood. This little gal started life as a cream! I'll be interested to watch what happens with her color.

I'll be posting weekly pictures on this blog so you can follow the puppies as they grow.

The next posting will probably have news about Mira's litter. When it rains, it pours! But after not having puppies since last November, I'm ready for the challenge.

Life is good when you have a Lhasa to love you!

  2. Female at the top of photo. Cream female on left. The other 2 on the right are boys. All of the darker puppies have a tiny white tip at the end of their tails. The male with the white on his neck also has white "socks" on his front feet. The cream has a white shawl over her shoulders and white on her head, but of course it is difficult to see. Everyone is nursing well and Dancer is being an excellent mother. Whew!

  4. Thanks. Everyone is doing well. Klara calls the cream puppy "the vanilla puppy." I imagine that name will probably stick in one form or another!

  6. Hey Gail! Piper was such a good mother herself. She loved her babies and took good care of them. She should be proud of Dancer, who is being a great mom too.
